The ABBS 2025 International Symposium was held at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), chaired by Associate Professor Nguyễn Quang Long, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, and Associate Professor Lại Quốc Đạt, Director of the Office of International Affairs and Co-Chair of the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the APEC Congress. The event gathered nearly 70 experts and scholars from six APEC member economies, including China, Indonesia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Vietnam. Participants contributed 5 keynote speeches, 28 oral presentations, and 17 poster presentations. Following the symposium, participants joined a technical visit to the recycled plastics processing plant of Cat Thai Manufacturing and Trading Co. Ltd. (CATHACO), located in an industrial park on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.
This year’s symposium showcased contributions from experts and scholars representing diverse fields. Associate Professor Nguyen Hong Quan, Director of the Institute of Circular Economy at Vietnam National University and Co-Chair of the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter, delivered a keynote speech on integrating social solutions for green transformation to advance circular economy goals. Professor Chang Jo-shu, Vice President of Tunghai University in Taichung, presented his research on microalgae cultivation utilizing industrial waste gas to achieve carbon reduction and pollution control. Dr. Hens Saputra, Director of the BRIN Industrial Processes and Manufacturing Technology Research Center and Co-Chair of the Indonesian Chapter, shared insights into Indonesia’s hydrogen energy policy, highlighting strategies to optimize bioprocess technologies for sustainable biohydrogen production. During the symposium’s dinner, Professor Sang-Hyoun Kim, Co-Chair of the Seoul Chapter, officially announced that the ABBS 2026 Symposium will be held in mid-October at Yonsei University in South Korea.
APEC-ACABT, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter of Vietnam, successfully hosted the ABBS 2025 International Symposium, offering an important platform for global experts and scholars to present cutting-edge research and reinforcing Vietnam’s leadership in advancing international green technology exchange.
