Korea, the host of APEC 2025, held the 25rd Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation Meeting (PPSTI 25) during the first Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM 1) at the Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO) on 24-25 February, 2025.

 

In response to the Putrajaya Vision 2040 and Aotearoa Action Plan, the APEC members affirmed the contribution of the Mission-Oriented Innovation Policy (MOIP) pilot program to the development of emerging technologies. In addition, the Governing Board shared and updated the endorsed Terms of Reference (ToR) for the MOIP, of which the pilot implementation will begin this year. Besides, the OECD also shared insights on how to apply MOIP as a comprehensive approach to mobilize STI to address objectives in a timeframe.

 

During the Subgroup A Meeting - Building Science Capacity at the PPSTI 25, Professor Dr. Shu-Yii WU, the CEO of the ACABT, and Professor Dr. Chen-Yeon CHU, the Executive Secretary of ACABT, presented the ACABT Annual Report and APEC Project Report - Green Synergy Solutions to Net-Zero Emissions Based on Bioenergy Technologies for Resilience and Sustainability, which is to be completed by the mid-year. Through the subgroup meeting, ACABT promoted the outcomes of the successful affairs and projects, demonstrating its engagement in fulfilling the objectives and priorities of APEC PPSTI.
